Tour-Day 2
Singapore wasn't my first prioty for this summer tour; I wasn't interested in this small city as in Japan(立山黑部) and even thought that it'd be ok if i didn't visit it all my life. But after we arrived, I got attracted by this well-organized, multicultural city and started to find out sth to play or some special food from brochures I got from the airport service center. It is rather exciting traveling yourself than going on a group tour!The next day was really fascinating, we went on Ducktour(held just 5 years ago) , visiting several city attractions and had luxurious dinner at the Equinox of Swissotel The Stamford. Moreover, Mom took me to the Newton Center not only for night snack but to recall her trip 18 years ago. We ate some typical dessert there. In fact the best place for food is not the Newton Center, Chijmes, or Lau Ba Sat, but those around the East Coast Park, we didnt go, though, maybe next time~~
Ducktour--we hopped abroad on an amphibious craft that combines both a harbour tour & city tour in one. It's a unique way of touring the city .Riding the authentic Vietnam War craft for 60-minute was a wacky experience--we went to the historical landmarks on land and bashed through the woods for the ride's climax as we splashed into waters, then enjoyed the breeze as going on waters to view highlights like Merlion Park, the Esplanade and Clifford Pier, all set against the city skyline.
The Equinox on top of Singapores tallest hotel Swissôtel The Stamford offered an astounding panoramic view of the city.Here we had the "highest" dinner of the city, both on height and price><; money was probably spent mainly on watching the view, not the meal. It deserves to be mentioned that our stay was just between 6:30 and 7:30,therefore we were lucky to take both daylight and night pictures of the marvelous view.
Newton Center-- Chendol is a Southest Asian dessert.Its ingredients consist of coconut milk, green colored flour noodles, coconut nectar syrup and red beans. it is a quintessential part of the cuisine of the multi racial population in Singapore.
Ice kachang (we called 红豆冰 in Chinese) is a dessert served in Malaysia and Singapore. The word Kachang is a Malay word for bean. It generally comes with bright colors and with different fruit cocktails and dressings. Several varieties have also been introduced which contain sweetcorn, grass jelly...etc. We ordered Durian(榴槤) favor; the vendor spread some durian jam on the top of the ice. We tried a little bit of it first and were amazed at its fabulous taste!

indeed,time flies! the third year in NTU is both the lab and course year, and i did experience a special week of add and drop! Monday I went to a class called " KNOWING THE HEAVEN," the teacher was really magnetic; he was humorous and pretty good at making interactions with us; the classroom was overcrowded, and those who'd like to take the class should hand on the "add and drop" list(the teacher would choose limited numebers of students from dozens of lists); the way that made me lose some sense of security(it was like you lose an very improtant thing right in the beginning of the semester!)i didnt get admitted to the class, though,it was only for seniors...i took German class and an English conversation class on Monday too. the conversation class was full of business-major students and their English were quiet good, it was a very exciting attempt. On Wednesday there was another demanding test! "CELLULAR ENZYMOLOGY" was a class for reading journals, and we've been told that we had no way of preparing the exams...|o| As for Friday, I just signed in one of my favorite teachers' class, MOVIES AND POLITICS, was the hit in NTU; there were fewer students attending to the class this semester, since it had made a big change--it was taught in Engish and our studying materials were all in Eng.(well...it's hard to imagine discussing "city of sadness悲情城市" in Eng) The final class, MATHEMATICS FOR LIFE SCIENTISTS, a very interesting class which let us get some ideas of deducing equations from biological phenomena. in fact the math class ran into my political class><; maybe I'll be the auditor this time, I love both classes^^
by the way, two of my best friends are probably coming back this Thanksgiving Holiday, how about coming back for a rare overseas buddy reunion? the more the merrier, waiting for ur news!
in fact my schedule is pretty tight, Tuesday is my lab day thus i certainly would delay my study and should study on precious weekends><(fewer travel this semester)
as for the weather, it'd also turned cooler these days...especially at night...really enjoy the cool wind...
uh...the movie was "悲情城市" directed by 侯孝賢, it was about 228事件...very touching and worth seeing. it stimulated many people's thoughts,including 梁朝偉, the actor of the movie.(profound influnce on his performing life)
