Summer Plan
it's hard to post some aritcles recently since my ovewhelming work loads.(actually i'm now in the computer class.)
When i was in the final of the previous semester, i started to sketch my ideal summer plans, but my spirits had been crushed by tight sechedules right in the beggining of the summer "vacation".Then I just threw a fit and waited for the end of the first two hell weeks.Here are my original summer scripts plus some of my notes in the quotes to "increase their reality."( it's weird to write down sth almost won't happen)
1.lab-->hope i could find a specific topic(still no topic so far)
2.reading-->ooh..where's the end of the booklist?
3.tutoring-->try to make it shorter than two hours a day(but Mandy is the rate-determing step: she's easily blanked out)
4.traveling-->Singapore is too hot. Learnig cooking in the Blue Elephant in Thiland had become the second priority. China is better.(Finish the lab task first!)
5.blogging-->write the diary eveyday.(what? already July 13th?)
6.language-->Spanish,French,or Japenese(if I have 36 hours a day...)
7.Swimming -->every moring(only once so far...how about at night?)
Best thing i want to do in summer:
1.long-term traveling-->America or Europe,maybe i could also work there for my traveling expense.(impossible this year.Everybody's busy,whatever)
2.Immersing in the Taipei 101 or the 敦南 branch of Eslite Bookstore all day long.(only weekend possible)

For swimming, I'm recently doing that about twice a week, for every last hour before the pool closes.
And plans for a biking trip around the island is still nowhere to be seen due to uncertain lab work schedules of my self and a friend.
Book reading... a must for vacations. Recently reading 1984 by George Orwell, but stuck with a whole lot of "lab protocols" waiting for me to read...
Good luck on exicuting your plan, though.
While reading comic books in Barnes & Noble is wiser than treating it as a souvenir store--i was first attracted by the stationery section and then went to the counter asking whether they have mechandise of "Lord of the Rings," then i found there's no difference between the ones sold in Taiwan-__-
Mandy is going to the same junior high school as us, she's got taller (almost catch up with me) but still a bag of bones.she lives in my house and we gonna make her plumper this summer.
number 32 is also in the U.S.?ooh i guess we junior high classmates may hold a reuion there one day...
i've been looking forward to biking around the island but have decided to make it when i become the senior after asking "anyway."
(http://www.metmuseum.org/) could cost you more than two days!
here goes two ways:
Take the city bus(safer for the first and short-term visit )
(http://www.ny.com/transportation/buses/)
(http://www.newyorkpartyshuttle.com/)
for a brief glimpse of some famous attractions or follow my route:
visit the metropolitan museum or natural history museum
(http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/)
every morning-->only "glance" possible and there are fewer tourists in the morning.
then i recommend you take subway to the time square,buying the ticket of one broadway show-->"Rent" and "the phantom of the opera" are my favorites so far("the lion king" is also great work.)but "Rent" seems to play only at 2:00pm on weekends.

after watching the show, you can go to the central park if there's a performance(such as "summerstage":
http://www.centralpark.org/) which could make you become the real "New Yorker!" If not, the fifth avenue nearby is also a fantastic site. i was deeply impressed by the NBA store and Tiffany & Co.~~*.*'
the next day(afternoon) you can go to downtown manhattan, seeing the uncanny work of brooklyn bridge and taking a stroll at the financial district(wall street...marked in "the map")
you can also visit the columbia university!(uptown)
i do know somewhere for delicacies, most are expenisive(someone got the check...)and suitable for four or more people, you can visit cafe mozart(near lincoln center)(http://www.nysite.com/westside/cross/
mozart.htm)
i was deeply moved by their chocholate cake...
ooh don't miss the "richard's chocholate" near the fifth avenue(their choacolate has no sugar and milk but very tasty,you should eat it soon or keep it in the fridge within a week)(u need luck, i lost their add.)
while i ate yummy hot dog sold by vendors most^^($1.5 each)
please keep in mind--stay outsite only BEFORE SUNSET!!!(8~9pm)
notes:
1.soho district has become a place for the tourists, not the place of the artists.
2.the tour to the statue of liberty =the torture barbecued by the burning sun
3.subway and bus are vital for the trip in manhattan, i recommend you buy the one-day ticket($7.00)
and you won't get lost if you have maps...you can directly ask them from the subway service counter.

you'll find how amazing nyc is!

guided by my senior
if u want cheaper tickets:
1.show your student id
2.you must get the coupon(i get some at school,but not for the famous shows)
3.cheaper ticket usually are standing ones or at the first row
as for the hotel:
some of my friends lived in ymca,
my bitter experience:
we(three people) lived in a "five-star" hotel, which had fancy lobby but crumby rooms(oh god, guess what i heard in the midnight><)
well...the room cost us $173.00...
